Mary Catharine Martin, Communications Director
SalmonState communications director Mary Catharine Martin came to SalmonState from the world of newspapers. She has won numerous awards for her writing, including first places for outdoors writing, science writing, and culture reporting in the annual Alaska Press Club Awards.
She loves trips in wild places, in 2017 retracing the route of the Klondike Gold Rush stampeders over the Chilkoot Pass and down 600 miles of lakes and river as research for a novel.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
The ability to fly. It might be cliché, but my superpower wish list hasn’t changed since I was three.
What’s your favorite wild Alaskan food?
It doesn’t get any better than smoked wild sockeye or king salmon. If I ever had to choose my last meal, that would be on the list.
